Year in Review

With another year winding down, it's nice to be able to sit back and reflect on all of the good things that have happened, recall the bad, and learn from both. Its great to see how much you can grow as a person in a years time in all respects!

The Imperial show is officially ready to go, at long last, and its taught me a lot about where I want to be in my career this time next year. I've learned so much about the industry this year, and have had so many people reach out to me. Im so grateful for all the potential this will bring!

Matt has encouraged me time after time to break free of the warm covers and snuggly apartment life and get out to capture different situations. I've seen and appreciated so many beautiful scenes thanks to this man! Even on my worst days, whining about inclines through the woods as he encourages me to go forward by offering me chocolate (Im not proud, but it's happened), he encourages and supports me. He pushes me to be the best I can and do the best I can, and not get discouraged if things don't work out just how I had envisioned them.

Got this little sweetie under control this year- our kitten has a condition where she used to have frequent seizures. I am so thankful for the wonderful vets who have helped us get her seizing under control with medicines to where she is living a happy and relatively normal life (I dont know how normal you can call a kitten who tries to sit in under the spout in the shower licking up all the water she can from around your toes..)

Became best friends with Prince Charles. We had a moment.

I have the absolute honor of being a bridesmaid this upcoming year to these fabulous two! Amanda and Brendan have been two great friends of mine for 4.5 years now, and I couldnt imagine either of them any happier then when they're together. You can imagine my excitement to be in the bridal party, let alone take their engagement photos! So excited to share in their special day!

Had the amazing adventure with these 3 girls below! Laura, Anne, and Laura have also been incredible friends of mine for 4.5 years. Constant love and support no matter what. So truely blessed! I'll be honest, we do always end up in some whirlwind misadventure every single time the 4 of us are left alone together..

Such as meeting the legendary Douglas Kirkland on the streets of Moncton and being put on the guest list to his seminar happening that very night! Hows that for timing, luck, and whirlwind adventure?!

I've also taken back shooting in film for myself. I love everything about film and the darkroom, and I have a goal to have a darkroom in my house as soon as it's achievable!

Here's to celebrating what was a wonderful year, and looking forward to all the adventures that wait in 2013!

Star Gazer

Matt and I went out to watch the meteor shower last week. It was freezing cold, but who am I to turn down an adventure with my man playing Christmas music a little too loud and having Tim Hortons hot chocolate to keep us warm?

At first, the sky clouded over so we enjoyed the other views we had. Luckily the stars came out just for us soon after!

Moving Forward

It feels good getting back into the swing of things! After Matt had his accident at work, things got incredibly hectic incredibly fast. Now Im happy to say, we're right where we need to be. Not only are we on track with all of the paper work that comes with losing part of your finger, but all business things are coming together nicely as well!

I received all of the prints from Atlantic Photo Supply for the gallery hang in January, and the quality is just out of this world. I opened this most recent parcel and it brought tears to my eyes- they really made all of the images look incredible. Im so excited to have them up!! I also got almost all of the frames, which is a nice check mark on my ever growing to-do list. Now just to find three 30x30" frames, and Im done!! Wahoo!!

Also, Im happy to report that progress on the website is in full tilt. Over the next few days Im refining the portfolio and Layout with the developer, and it will launch between now and the New Year. This is really exciting too, because I'll be able to order business cards at LAST! Its hard patiently waiting to get them made when you do a test run 6 months ago, and you dont have a website! Glad to get that taken care of. If anyone is looking for a nice place to get their business cards done, I'd strongly recommend www.moo.com any day of the week!

Anyway, Matt and I went to the beach to watch the waves, and ended up with these photos. I hope you enjoy them as much as we do!

First outing together since the accident, and I put him right to work. Oops!

Last weekend I had the pleasure of taking photos of Katie & Brad, two friends of mine from school. They are so much fun, and absolutely perfect together!

Finding Space

I finally measured space for my solo photography show at the Imperial Theatre yesterday- I got so giddy at the thought of my work being in such a beautiful place that I had butterflies all afternoon!
This weekend I can sit down with the measurements & mock-up drawing that Matt helped me make and I'll be able to not only determine how many prints are left to be printed, but Im thrilled to say I've already began planning the layout of the images as you walk through. How's that for organized?
Looking forward to picking up some frames very soon and getting this set up!

Who thought I would ever be excited for winter? Come on January!!

Here's an image that will be hanging up in the show.
Taken when I was living in London, England.
Still one of my favourites to this day!

Where to start

This has been a really exciting time for me lately, and I feel like things are starting to head in the right direction. I finally have started shooting for me and my clients with my view of the world, opposed to going off of school taught notions on how everything should be, and it's been a success and a well embraced familiarity. It's good to feel this good about your own work!
Our roof has been repaired, so soon I will have back my home office! All I have left now is to decorate. Im eager to show you all how much you can do in a small space!
Also, Im in the process of having my official photography website developped, so Im really looking forward to getting that up and going.
Another exciting adventure going on here is the beginning of the printing for my first solo gallery exhibition at the Imperial Theatre.
Im happy to see so much growth lately with my photography, and Im excited to see where it all leads!

Here's a photo from an adventure the other day with the beginning of the end of the fall leaves.
